Mulberry House is proud to announce the development of a new experiential learning pathway that will connect its Forest School programme with The Harbour School’s Marine Science Center at The Grove campus. This collaboration will offer students an enriched understanding of Hong Kong’s diverse natural environments, from forest ecosystems to the wonders of marine life.
Earlier this week, Coach Nash visited The Harbour School (THS) for a guided tour of the Marine Science Center. The tour was led by Jadis Blurton, the founder of THS, whose passion for inquiry-based learning and child-centered education aligns closely with Mulberry House’s philosophy. Her insight and enthusiasm provided valuable context for how the THS can support early years exploration in meaningful and developmentally appropriate ways.
A Shared Commitment to Nature-Based Learning
Hong Kong offers one of the world’s most unique ecological landscapes, and Mulberry House continues to build learning experiences that help children connect with the environment around them. The Forest School programme encourages students to explore, observe, and build confidence through outdoor activities. By adding a marine component, the school is extending this approach into a new dimension: understanding nature through both land and sea.
During their visit, Coach Nash toured the center’s touch tanks, aquariums, and the impressive “tree of life” installation. Children visiting the center will be able to observe and interact with a variety of marine organisms, including starfish, sea cucumbers, and horseshoe crabs. These experiences create a strong foundation for developing environmental awareness and curiosity.

A Seamless Forest-to-Sea Pathway
The new pathway will begin with students participating in Mulberry House’s Forest School sessions, where they learn:
How living things adapt to their habitats
How to observe changes in nature
Risk awareness and resilience
Respect for the natural world
Cooperative learning with peers
Students will then extend these lessons during their visit to the THS Marine Science Center, where they will:
Explore marine ecosystems in a hands-on environment
Discover how sea creatures survive and thrive
Compare and contrast land and ocean habitats
Begin forming early ideas about conservation and sustainability
Engage in real scientific observation in a child-friendly setting
This integrated learning experience helps children build deeper connections between different ecosystems while introducing them to scientific thinking in a joyful and tangible way.
Moving Forward Together

Mulberry House is grateful to Jadis Blurton and the THS team for their warm welcome and their commitment to high-quality experiential education. This partnership marks an exciting milestone in the continued development of Mulberry House’s nature-based learning pathways.
The Forest-to-Sea experience will soon become part of the extended learning opportunities offered to students, giving them richer perspectives, unforgettable hands-on encounters, and a deeper appreciation for the natural world.
Mulberry House looks forward to sharing more updates as this collaboration unfolds and as students begin their journeys from forest trails to the marine world.
